Terms of Service

Effective June 1, 2026
Plain-language summary: B&R Terminal is an information and analytics tool, not financial advice. You bring your own market-data API key and are responsible for using it within that provider's terms. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Use at your own risk.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of B&R Terminal (the "Service"), operated by Bartels & Rubenstein (B&R Terminal) ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

B&R Terminal is a subscription web application that aggregates and displays publicly available market information — quotes, news, fundamentals, earnings, and AI-generated summaries — for large-cap U.S. equities. It is an information and analytics tool only. It does not execute trades, hold customer funds, or provide personalized financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.

3. Not financial advice

Nothing provided through the Service is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy, sell, or hold any security or to adopt any investment strategy. Content (including AI-generated summaries and any "outlook," "mood," or sentiment indicators) is for general informational purposes only and may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or out of date. Social-media content is unverified sentiment, not fact. You are solely responsible for your own decisions and should consult a licensed professional before acting. Past performance does not indicate future results.

4. Market data & your API key (BYOK)

The Service requires you to supply your own third-party market-data API key (e.g., Finnhub). You are responsible for:

We do not provide, control, or warrant third-party data, and we are not liable for its accuracy, availability, licensing, or any consequences of your use of it. Your API key is stored only in your own browser and is never transmitted to or stored by us.

5. Accounts

You must provide a valid email and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share access or use someone else's account. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live).

6. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

Paid access is billed on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor (Stripe) at the price shown at checkout. Your subscription renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your Account page; access continues through the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. We may change pricing with notice for future billing periods. Beta access codes, where offered, may be modified or revoked at any time.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: redistribute, resell, or scrape data or content from the Service; reverse-engineer or attempt to breach security; use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others' rights; or place automated load that disrupts the Service.

8. Privacy & data

We store the minimum needed to run your account (email, a hashed password, subscription status, and your saved watchlists/portfolio/alerts). Your API key and the market data it retrieves stay in your browser. We do not sell your personal data or serve ads. See any separate Privacy Policy for details.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service or its data will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bartels & Rubenstein (B&R Terminal) and its founders will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any trading or investment losses, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three (3) months before the claim.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date; continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your state], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
